How to Confirm an Appliance Part Fits Before Ordering

Before ordering an appliance replacement part, check the full appliance model number and the replacement part reference. Compare the listed design details and package contents as separate checks; a similar-looking part or a matching brand name alone is not enough to confirm fit.

Check the part number

Use the appliance manufacturer’s parts lookup or parts diagram for your full model number, and compare any number already visible on the original part. Whirlpool’s replacement-part guidance starts with a model or part-number search. A replacement-number relationship should have a documented source; see the W10594481 and WPW10594481 reference guide for an example. That OEM reference does not verify the fit of an HPUY replacement.

Check the model number

Copy the full model number from the appliance rating label, including letters and suffixes. Keep the serial number separate if the manufacturer asks for it. Compare the details

Review the stated dimensions, connector or mounting details, and photos where available. Check the listed package contents separately so you know what is included. If a required specification or model reference is missing or conflicts with another section, ask for clarification before ordering.
