Where to Find Your Appliance Model Number
Where to Find Your Appliance Model Number
Start with the appliance rating label and copy the complete model number, keeping the serial number separate. Label locations vary by appliance and model. GE’s model and serial-number guidance recommends its product-type locator or the model’s owner’s manual. The examples below are from GE documentation; use your own manufacturer’s locator for other brands.
Refrigerators
For GE bottom-freezer refrigerators, possible label locations include an upper side wall in the fresh-food compartment or a side wall in the freezer. See GE’s bottom-freezer refrigerator locator; other refrigerator styles may use different locations.
Ranges and ovens
GE lists the front frame behind the oven door as one possible range label location. Use GE’s range locator for the relevant design, or the appliance manufacturer’s manual for your range or wall oven. Do not assume a label number on a warning sticker is the appliance model number.
Washers and dryers
GE examples include the wash-compartment face inside the door of a front-load washer, under the lid near the right hinge of a top-load washer, and the front face of the compartment inside the door of a dryer. Follow the locator for your appliance type.
Dishwashers
GE’s dishwasher locator shows possible locations on the left or right front inside edge and the right side edge of the door. Copy the full model number, including letters and suffixes.
If the label is missing, unreadable, or not readily accessible, consult the manufacturer’s model locator or support service before proceeding. With the full model number, follow our part-fit checklist. For a listing question, contact HPUY support with the identifier you can read and an existing label photo if available.
